The default database in WSO2 products is an embedded H2 database, which stores user data and data related to WSO2 Carbon, the platform on which WSO2 products are built. However, you can use the scripts provided with WSO2 products to install and configure several other types of relational databases, including MySQL, IBM DB2, Oracle, and more. These scripts are located in the <PRODUCT_HOME>/dbscripts/ folder.

After you set up the physical database, add datasources in the Management Console to enable the server to connect to that database.

The embedded H2 database is suitable for development, testing, and some production environments. For most enterprise production environments, however, we recommend you use an industry-standard RDBMS such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MS SQL, etc.
